Each year, beginning in Mid-September, assistance applications are made available on this site, at the Canton Public Library and the Canton Township Administrative Office Building. Applicants are asked to complete the application and return it to the Canton Goodfellows for consideration. All applicants are screened and must prove that 1) they live in Canton, and 2) the children live with them, and 3) they meet the current year’s THAW income guidelines. All financial information is kept confidential however approved family names are shared with other local assistance agencies.
th to meet the 2015 filing deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.
Once the approved family list is finalized, the children are “adopted” by members of the community who purchase and donate new clothing and toys for these children. Adoptions start around November 1st each year.
In December, the Canton Goodfellow volunteers collect all of the donations, sort and organize the items within the various families, verify that all immediate needs are being met, and package the gifts for the families to pick-up.
The Canton Goodfellows assistance applications due date has now passed and applications are no longer available on the site or at the Canton Library. We suggest that you please contact the Salvation Army (734-453-5464) starting November 3.
