The Canton Goodfellows are a group of community volunteers dedicated to providing food, clothing and Christmas gifts to families with young children in an effort to fulfill a goal of NO CHILD IN CANTON WITHOUT A CHRISTMAS.

The Goodfellows work out of the Canton Township Office located at 1150 S. Canton Center Rd.

The mailing address is PO Box 87532, Canton, MI 48187 and the email address is cantongoodfellows@gmail.com

Each year, beginning in September, assistance applications are made available online, at the Canton Public Library and the Canton Township Office. Applicants are asked to complete the application and return it to the Canton Goodfellows for consideration. All applicants are screened and approved based on THAW income guidelines. All financial information is kept confidential however approved family names are shared with other local assistance agencies.

The Canton Goodfellows assistance application may be downloaded here: Goodfellows Assistance Application. Please keep in mind that assistance application must be post marked by October 17th to meet the 2014 filing deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.

Once the approved family list is finalized, the children are “adopted” by members of the community who purchase and donate new clothing and toys for these children.

In December, the Canton Goodfellow volunteers collect all of the donations, sort and organize the items within the various families, verify that all immediate needs are being met, and package the gifts for the family to pick-up.

The Canton Goodfellows assistance application due date has now passed and applications are no longer available on the site or at the Canton Library. We suggest that you please contact the Salvation Army (734-453-5464) starting November 3.
